Book Review: The Publicist (Books 1 and 2) by Christina George

Christina George has worked in the publishing industry as a publicist for 20 years, so she knows what she's talking about. Her book series, The Publicist, gives an insider's look into the world of authors and publishing. Kate Mitchell is a young publicist trying to navigate her way as a publicist, but it's not always easy. First there is her charismatic, sexy boss, MacDermott Ellis. He's totally wrong for her (married, older), but she can't seem to help herself and succumbs to his charms.

Meanwhile, she has become friends with a reclusive author in her building, Allan Lavigne. The world has been waiting for his next great novel but it doesn't appear to be coming any time soon. His adorable nephew, Nick, comes for a visit and Kate's life is complicated by yet another love interest. She finds she must make a choice that could affect the rest of her life.

As Book One ends and Book Two begins, Kate finds that everything around her is slowly starting to crumble away. A scandal with one of her authors sends her looking for a new start in life and she finds it with Nick. But of course, it's not that easy to run from your past. Kate must struggle with her future while feeling the pull of those people and things she is trying to leave behind.

Christina George has written an enjoyable set of books that will pull you in and have you wanting more. If you're looking for this year's Fifty Shades of Grey, you've found it with The Publicist. This book had me laughing out loud at some of the behavior of these self-involved authors. I've always wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes and this satisfies my guilty little pleasure.

Book one is available now at Amazon (click the image below) with Book Two (Shelf Life) coming soon. Or you can find it in my Amazon store at the link above.
