Country Music Convert

It has finally happened. After growing up and living in the South for all of my life and even living in Nashville for a while, I have finally started listening to country music. I mean I am listening ONLY to country music. At first, even my son complained. But after about a day, he was requesting Sirius/XM radio's The Highway (Channel 59). He realized that the music is good and the artists are so talented. So for all of you naysayers, I want to share some of my favorite artists and songs:

1. I'll start with Blake Shelton. He's an obvious choice, having gained fame on The Voice. But that is not why I like him. In fact, I have fought it for about a year. But he won me over (stealing a line from his song "Over") because he is just that good. His latest song is "Over" and here is the video:

2.  Next up is Hunter Hayes, a very talented young man. I saw him in concert last year and he played every instrument on the stage. I was blown away. He reminds me a lot of Justin Timberlake. Here is one of my faves, "Wanted":

3.  Next up is Jason Aldean. I saw him in Nashville last year, but he was only on stage for a few songs. My favorite song by him is "Night Train". I love the sound of a train in the distance, so lonely and full of longing. Enjoy:

4. Next up, The Band Perry. I like every song I've ever heard from this band: "Done", "If I Die Young", and "Better Dig Two". Enjoy:

5. I love the stories in country songs. Here's a great one I heard the other day by Carrie Underwood called "Two Black Cadillacs":

6. I love this next song by Leah Turner called "Take The Keys". I couldn't find a video but here is the song:

These are just a few of the songs I'm listening to right now. I hope you'll give them a listen and give country music a try. Let me know what you think! And thanks for getting buzzed!
